Welcome to Chasing Creation.
I’m Katy and I’m designing an unexpectedly childfree life after infertility.
I started this blog to chronicle my journey, share the best resources I find along the way, and connect with others who are on this path and feeling alone. When I made the decision to transition to childfree, I devoured any story I could find from women in similar circumstances. Every book, blog, group, podcast, and article I found made me feel a little less isolated and gave me something I haven’t felt in a long time: hope.
My aim is to fill these pages with stories, resources, research, and insight that will do the same for you. On Chasing Creation, you’ll find posts about:
- Recognizing and working through grief.
- Processing the aftermath of infertility.
- Designing a childfree life.
- Redefining your identity.
- Strengthening your relationships.
- My favorite books and resources.

I enjoy starting things much more than finishing them and I love researching new topics. This combination makes me a bit eccentric. I started my career in hair and makeup, and am now a social worker advocating for kids. My favorite hobby is dabbling so I am mediocre at a lot of things: archery, knitting, cross-stitching, painting, writing songs, playing the uke, reading tarot cards, gardening, home remodeling. I have a huge pile of half-read books but when I find a topic I’m really interested in, I will finish everything I can get my hands on. I love being in nature, traveling, video games, and getting absorbed into great music, TV, and films. I am addicted to creation and possibilities.
I find my deepest meaning through relationships. I surround myself with people I can talk to for hours. I prefer misfits, eccentrics and weirdos. I’d rather talk to you about the meaning of life than the weather, even if I met you two minutes ago. I am a wife, sister, daughter, auntie, and friend.
